1/2 marathon update

This weekend is the Columbus 1/2 Marathon
that i was planning on running!

i had been preparing for the race
probably not as well as i should have - but still i know that i can run 13.1 miles
we decided to look at the map of the course
and thats when we noticed that the event was sold out!

I immediately was devastated about this news... how can a running event sell out?
...i totally understand the amount of medals/water pit stops/yada yada yada...
and i know that i could run it without registering - but i feel like that is kind of cheating the system and my integrity is on the line at that point - and its not worth it to me!

But during that moment of devastation- I also realized something else:

I was devastated because I couldn't run
[before I would be devastated to run!]
I'm no longer running because I am in a weight loss competition and I have a drive to win the $$
but now....
I am running for me now and I actually like it!

So now I will focus on the 1/2 marathon in May 2011 and I will be signing up this week!

Who's with me!
we have plenty of time to train!

I think you should just have your own marathon!! Then, no matter what, you will win first place!!! HUGE confidence booster if ya ask me!!!! :)

And I posted something on your Facebook wall last night about running the half here in Indy with me.

What a bummer! I was totally hoping I would bump into you down at the race. I heard through the grapevine both the full & half were getting close to selling out about a month ago so I luckily registered in time. Running half and full marathons are becoming so popular they sell out in record time now. Last year, the Chicago marathon closed out in just 51 days...and that's for 45,000 runners! It really is insane. At least you'll have a really good base for your half in May!

I would love to do something like that, but I'm totally not a runner. :( I'll be happy to cheer you on though!

Where is your May 1/2? I've been considering doing one, but not sure if I am "that" dedicated.
