Road Trip to Indy

This past weekend Kush and I loaded up 2.0 and headed west on I-70 to Indy to visit Aly.

It all worked out perfectly because Indy is about to host the Super Bowl next week, so they have turned downtown into Super Bowl Village. It was so much fun to walk around being tourists.

Since Indianapolis is known for Indy Car racing... they had one for every NFL team
After we had finished with being tourists for the day, we went home and got ready for dinner at Cooper's Hawk Winery.
While waiting on our table for 60-90 minutes we decided to have a mini photo shoot
{because thats what normal people do while they wait on their table - right?!}

By the time we were seated at dinner, we were starving and everything on the menu looked divine.
I chose blackened bacon wrapped scallops served with cilantro lime rice and grilled pineapple.
HOLY AMAZING!
I told Aly I might be back tomorrow for dinner, it was SO good!
It was such a fun weekend!
Thank you Aly for hosting.... I had so much fun!

Weekend Wrap Up

I hope this post finds you well rested after a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Ours has been anything but calm, but I really wouldn't have it any other way! I love being able to spend time with my family and friends when they are in town for the holiday.

{warning picture overload!}

Thursday morning started off with the
Flying Feather 4 miler in Dublin
Myself, Bri and Ashley
It must have been the cold weather because I ran the race in 9:52 minute/miles... something that I never thought I could do! I had previously run a 10:20 miles in my 1/2' s but it could have been the fact that it was only 4 miles, or the fact that it was just brisk, windy, and COLD that gave me a little pep in my step to finish the race!
The reward for running the race, a bottle of wine
After the race we raced over to Justin's cousin's house for our first thanksgiving, and then we rushed back over to my grandma's house. Luckily I was able to drop off of this cheese ball after the race for my family to enjoy {because it was long devoured prior to us arriving}
which was inspired by none other than pinterest
{these just seemed like a LOT of cheese ball for not a lot of cracker - so I just made on large cheese ball}
Friday night I had my 10 year class reunion. I had been helping plan the event for the past year, and it was nice to have it come to fruition and catch up with my classmates. Unfortunately there were not as many students who were able to make it as we wished, but there were about 40 out of our class of 500+ students.
Did you go to your class reunion?
Do you find that Facebook has made it less intriguing to go to your reunion?

Our high school principal came to the reunion as well. The world needs more people like Mr. McCann. He is one of those people who can find the good in anyone. He has since retired since we graduated, but it was so nice for him to come.
Saturday we stayed around town and watched our beloved buckeyes put up a fight against the team from up north. In the end unfortunately we did not come out victorious.. but we had other big news coming our way today with the announcement of Urban Meyer coming to coach OSU next year!

Saturday night we drove down to Cincinnati to see our best friends who were in town from Boston.
Sunday morning we woke up to a rainy forecast and tickets to the Browns/Bengals game. I was BEYOND thankful that I had purchased a pair of hunter boots prior to making the trip down 71.
We headed down to the game in the rain
Although the Brown's lost, we still had a great day hanging out with all of our friends

So that was our weekend in a nutshell! We are so fortunate that we were able to spend this holiday weekend with so many of our family and friends.

Hope your weekend was as fun as ours!

Are you ready for some football????

Growing up in Columbus, Ohio I did what every rebellious child would do and routed for
that team up north Michigan
yes, I know I'll admit it
I watched one ESPN story on the Fab Five back in the early 90's and I donned the colors maize and blue for quite a few years
I also liked the Bengals....

...And then I finally I had a little sense knocked into me and realized I should be cheering for my beloved Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns!

On Saturday its all about
the BUCKEYES

I watch college game day religiously {maybe part of it is because I like Kirk Herbestreit}

We rock the scarlet and gray and adorn buckeye necklaces

We yell OH just to anticipating the response of someone else yelling IO

We dot the "i" in script Ohio

We brave the chilly weather for the later games
We tailgate before, during and after the game
and hopefully we cheer on the team to a victory

Trust me, being an OSU fan hasn't been easy in the past year. I will continue to stand by my team, and I'm hoping we can pick ourselves back up after last year! I'm ready to cheer on my buckeyes this year, and I will always support my team!

and on Sundays
its all about the BROWNS
and my fantasy football players
{please don't mind the dueces that I'm throwing up in this picture... I would like to think I have matured since then}

Head on over to Lindsey's blog and check out what other fellow bloggers LOVE about football and their traditions

It is less than 1 month away until kick off!
So excited for the fall to be here to root on my favorite teams!

hello there....

Hello there!

I have missed you all and I'm sorry that I've been in a blogging funk lately. I don't quite know what has gotten into me...

well I guess I do know a little bit what has gotten into me

#1 work has been crazy busy, and I do use my lunch time occasionally to blog/catch up on blogs/relax my brain... and so that hasn't been happening lately

#2 twitter : yes that lovely little site that I have taken a fond liking to, well it keeps me up to date with some of my favorite bloggers, but not everyone, so I feel like I'm 1/2 up to date with what is going on... well sorta

#3 i'm gotten into a routine when I get home from work: gym, dinner, shower, reading in bed. yes you read that correctly - i'm skipping right over the reality tv and going straight to bed. its much more relaxing. this doesn't mean that i don't use my dvr'd shows to keep me entertained while i'm cooking/eating dinner, or that i don't occasionally watch one here or there.. but lately i would prefer to read over watching reality TV! [hell might have frozen over!]

And now that I'm on a reading kick I desperately need new authors. I am finishing up my last Nicholas Sparks book right now Safe Haven, I have Emily Griffin Something Borrowed [which I haven't started yet] and I also bought In a Heartbeat by Leigh Ann and Sean Tuohy [the real story of the Blindside]. Any other suggestions!?!?!

But in the meantime I thought I would catch you up on what we have been doing when I'm not in a routine mode [i.e. the weekends]:

Friday I got a special delivery from Justin in the office
Aren't the just beautiful? I've never had flowers delivered to the office before and I was completely shocked, and even had tears in my eyes when they were brought to me! I'm one lucky girl!

Saturday we had a surprise birthday party for Justin's cousin's 40th. Jennifer [his cousin] is someone who always does something for everyone else, and she was so touched a party was thrown in her honor, she started crying when we sang happy birthday to her when she walked in, and didn't stop crying the entire time. She is just too sweet.

Saturday night we watched this little chunk munk! Its a little hard to take pictures of her nowadays because she is on the MOVE! I had just got her out of her bumbo after dinner.. and she was walking over to me

and after we changed her into her PJ's. She had a ton of toys, but the only thing she would grab for off of the coffee table was Justin's wallet - too funny [smart girl!]!
[i also love these footed pj's - her feet are so small they stop on the right foot at the end of the red polka dot! so cute! they just kinda flop around]

Sunday Justin and I were all ready to cheer on the buckeyes in a victory of Minnesota in basketball and then head to a friend' s house to watch the Super Bowl. Well our plans were quickly changed when we lost power for about 3 hours [not so sure how we made it through the ice storm ALL last week without losing power - but this weekend was a different story]. Thankfully we live close enough to my parent's that we were able to head over there and make my dishes to bring to the game:

Football shaped veggie pizza

and chocolate covered strawberries

I was so happy that the Packers won. My friends joke around that because I'm a browns fan that I'm able to choose a different team during the playoffs since we will never make it :( so i chose my second favorite team the saints... and they were knocked out after the first week - so then i picked up green bay to cheer for for the rest of the playoffs!

I love Aaron Rodger's story, his patience and how he still has the love for football every time he plays. Its like watching someone who is playing for the right reason [if that makes sense?] It was a great game! I'm glad that Steelers came back with a little pep in their step in the 2nd half to make it more of a game, but in the end I was VERY thankful the Packers pulled off the win over the Steelers!

So that's our weekend wrapped up in pictures as well as an excuse as to why i have been absent lately!

What did you do this weekend? Is anyone else in a comment/blogging rut - or is it just me? Perhaps I can blame it on the winter blues :) come on sunny weather!

Top 2 Tuesday - Favorite Things about the Fall

I'm liking this being at home on a Monday writing about my Top 2 Tuesday topics..
I am loving the idea of 4 day work weeks [and I have 3 in a row starting this week!]

This weeks topic for T2T is:

Things I like Most about Fall

1. I love the changing of the temperatures... the leaves changing colors, the crisp cool air, sleeping with the windows open.... ahhh - i can't wait [we had a little tease last week and this weekend and it has been beyond lovely].
2. Football [i'm sure this shocks you!]
We all know that I love my buckeyes

but I can't leave out my Cleveland Clowns Browns
and because they have been so bad for the past few years I figure I might as well try out Fantasy Football as well so that I have something to look forward to on Sundays

And my runner ups have to be pumpkin spice candles, carving pumpkins [and eating the pumpkin seeds] and apple picking [i'm keeping justin to his promise that he will go with me this year - i've only been asking for 4 years now.. ha!], and the Ryder Cup in October.

but I will be honest with you... my favorite part about the fall is that it leads up to Christmas, and that is honestly my favorite time of the year!

What are your favorite things about the fall?

Now head on over to Taylor's blog and link up.... Happy Labor Day!

the boys of fall

have you heard Kenny Cheseney's newest release
the boys of fall?

every time i hear it - it reminds me that football season is just around the corner
and i just picture the small towns all across the nation
living their lives vicariously through the hometown football team

i can't wait for it to be finally be here

but until then i will just live through Kenny's new song

When I feel that chill and smell that wet cut grass

I'm back in my helmet cleats and shoulder pads
image
Standin in the huddle listenin to the call
image
Fans going crazy for the boys of fall

image

They didn't let just anybody in that club
Took every ounce of heart and sweat and blood
image
To get to wear those game day jerseys down the hall
King of the school man we're the boys of fall

Well it's turnin' to face the stars and stripes
image
It's fighting back them butterflies
It's call it in the air alright, yes sir we want the ball
image

And it's knockin heads and talkin trash
It's slinging mud and dirt and grass

image

It's I got your number, I got your back
When your backs against the wall
You mess with one man you got us all
The Boys of Fall

image

In little towns like mine it's all they got
Newspapers clippings fill the coffee shops
image
The old men will always think they know it all
image
Young girls will dream of The Boys of Fall

The boys of fall
