An unconventional.. but practical Easter Basket

Do you ever get an idea in your head
and can't wait to conceptualize the entire thing?

That's exactly what happened when I saw chevron personalized placemats on Zulily back in early March.

I thought what a neat base for an unconventional Easter basket for both Molly (my Goddaughter) and her brother Domingo.

And then the fun of picking up small items to put on top of the placemat began.
A few items specific just for them
and others in their own individualized colors.

A little treat to both of them to let them know how much I love them!

So they each received coloring books, crayons, a light up squishy toy (its going to their house, not mine if it breaks! sorry Katie and Jason in advance if they break!), bubbles, mango/pineapple cups that I drew on to look like a little chick (thank you Pinterest), and a special little treat an Airplane for Domingo (once again.. sorry Katie and Jason), and Easter crafts for Molly.

(I fudged with this darn picture about 12 times and could not get it to rotate.. sorry.. this is the best I could get!)

Happy Easter Molly and Domingo!

Hope you all are having a great week :)

Happy Easter and a sunday recap

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter, I know I sure did!

I woke up early this morning and had to run to the store and buy the ingredients for baked brie that my grandma has asked me to make (i was too lazy last night to go...) and I happened to pick up a little something for bubs after the surprise that he gave me last night (its not much, but starbucks can make anyone's morning - right?)

I came home and prepared the baked brie before heading to my parents and then going to church. Our sermon was wonderful. It was one of those sermons when the pastor talks about 3 different things throughout the entire service, but then at the end it all comes together so nicely... i love messages that make you think and God is our lives at all times.

After church, we went to my parents house, changed into more comfortable clothes, and then headed over to my Grandparents. We had an AMAZING meal - and we were all stuffed when we came home!

Here is the recipe for the baked brie that I brought to my grandparents house today

1 tube of crescent rolls
1 large wheel of brie
1 cup of chopped pecans
3 tablespoons of honey
apples
sprite (or a clear soda)

lay out the crescent rolls - 4 crescent rolls in each square, and push them all together
place wheel of brie in the middle of one of the 4 squares of combined crescent rolls
drizzle brie with 1 1/2 tablespoons of honey [not an exact amount - just a drizzle] and 1/2 cup of pecans
and fold the crescent roll up around the brie - and then place the other square of crescent rolls on top sealing in any exposed brie
Bake the brie at 325 for 15 minutes and then remove from oven and add honey
and the rest of your pecans
and bake for 10 more minutes. Remove and transfer your brie onto another dish (you will have some honey that have baked on the bottom on the dish - as you can see from the picture above)

cut up your apples - and soak them in sprite (it helps prevent the apples from turning brown) and then surround the brie with your apples and serve.... the cheese will melt right out from your crust - and it is pure deliciousness! Enjoy!!!

The Easter Bunny Came Early

I ran a bunch of errands this afternoon with Jaci (mainly returns) and when I came home, I was STARVING, and we really didn't have anything in the house to have for dinner... so JM was encouraging me to go out and get something for dinner... so I came home with Canes (i know not so healthy, but i was wanting something other than Subway).... (JM also begged, pleaded, whined for me to get him a pack of Swisher Sweet cigars when I went to the gas station - and I told him ABSOLUTELY not, i'm not encouraging something that I hate! and i left the argument at that)

I came home and inhaled my Canes, and then during half time of the Butler vs Michigan State game I turned on the light and saw this on my kitchen table
I realized that JM had gotten me something for Easter (does this basket look at all familiar? maybe something that used to have oreo pops in it?) and I immediately realized that I didn't get him anything, and felt guilty, and I had just put up a big fuss about not getting him cigars - so now I feel double guilty....

and because JM and I can't wait until the actual occasion to open up our gifts - I opened my gift tonight and it was a gift certificate to a really nice salon here in the 614 for a massage, because my back has been really hurting a lot lately, and I have never gotten a professional massage before
Thank you Just - I love you with all of my heart and thank you for spoiling me!

But I will always remember that Jesus is the reason of tomorrow and I am looking forward to attending church and then spending time with my family for the rest of the day!

Happy Easter!
