Thursday Tidbits

Thought I would take a moment to catch you up on what has been going on in my life

  • A few weeks ago,  I went to a baby shower for one of my best friends from college.  It was so good to see Brandy and the rest of my girl friends who live out of town.

The hostess' really outdid themselves.  All of the little details were amazing!

  • I have had the kids twice in the last week.  I have thoroughly enjoyed having them around.  Molly is becoming quite independent and VERY determined as of lately, and Domingo has become ultra ornery and my little buddy! I thoroughly enjoy having these two around the house.  They bring me so much joy and happiness.

    • We celebrated my 30th birthday last week.  My parents took us all out to a wonderful dinner, and it was nice to spend the day with the ones that I love the most.
    • I've been completing some DIY projects around the house lately, I will be posting a few of them in the upcoming weeks, along with more outfit posts, like I promised when I recommitted myself to blogging.

    Road Trip to Indy

    This past weekend Kush and I loaded up 2.0 and headed west on I-70 to Indy to visit Aly.

    It all worked out perfectly because Indy is about to host the Super Bowl next week, so they have turned downtown into Super Bowl Village. It was so much fun to walk around being tourists.

    Since Indianapolis is known for Indy Car racing... they had one for every NFL team
    After we had finished with being tourists for the day, we went home and got ready for dinner at Cooper's Hawk Winery.
    While waiting on our table for 60-90 minutes we decided to have a mini photo shoot
    {because thats what normal people do while they wait on their table - right?!}

    By the time we were seated at dinner, we were starving and everything on the menu looked divine.
    I chose blackened bacon wrapped scallops served with cilantro lime rice and grilled pineapple.
    HOLY AMAZING!
    I told Aly I might be back tomorrow for dinner, it was SO good!
    It was such a fun weekend!
    Thank you Aly for hosting.... I had so much fun!

    A healthy competition: Gingerbread House

    For the past few years, I have politely begged asked, to be a part of the Graham family Gingerbread competition.

    Shelly and Scott assemble all of the gingerbread houses, and provide all of the candy, and then we are each responsible for bringing our own roofing, and then one item to share with the rest of the group

    We all had a 2 hour time limit with 2 person teams

    As Jaci and I were focused on completing our house, Shelly was having a photo shoot with Truitt, her grandson
    {it was only after she claimed to have gotten the BEST picture ever that she realized it was on my camera and not hers! whoops!}
    Our finished product

    The competition was judged by a unbiased Pizza Delivery Driver
    The Graham's bribed him with an extra tip, however it was their way of paying it forward
    and he was beyond thankful and touched for the additional tip!
    And the winner was Lauren and Greg's cottage
    Their traditional gingerbread house was done with perfection
    {well minus the use of broccoli for their trees - but who's judging??}
    This was such a fun way to spend a Saturday night with amazing friends!

    Columbus Blogger Meet Up

    Saturday night we had our 2nd Columbus blogger meet-up
    We had a great time catching up with old friends
    and meeting new bloggers!

    This is just a few of us, I wish we were able to get a picture before people had to leave
    but that just means we will need to get together again soon so we can get one of everyone!

    Thanks again Holly and Katie for organizing the event!

    being resourceful!

    This is why I LOVE my blog/twitter friends!
    Yesterday while at work, I was struggling to eat my lunch because my bangs kept getting in the way
    without having a bobbi pin with me, I decided to be resourceful and use the ever so useful
    BINDER CLIP!

    of course I'm a nerd, and took a picture and tweeted it showing everyone else my resourceful move!

    AND

    today, I get a tweet from Molly
    that literally had me laughing out loud ..

    look what she found me on pinterest!

    Thank you Molly for making my day!

    A Weekend in Nashville

    This past weekend was spent in Nashville celebrating one of my best friends from college's bachelorette party. I had never been to the city and I was rather excited to go to music city with 23 girls :)

    All of the girls at Margaritaville on Friday night

    Aly, Brandy and I all lived together my last year in college
    it was fun to have an apartment reunion

    It was so much fun being with all of my University of Toledo girls again!
    The guest of honor of the weekend
    We were walking to Coyote Ugly and ran into these two guys on the street corner.... they were just as tall {short} as Brandy! too funny!
    It was so much fun to get together with some of my closest girl friends from college. I can't wait for Brandy's big day... 11/11/11!

    Sweet Caroline followed by C'Mon Irene

    This past weekend we visited our besties, Stacey and Ryan in Boston, Irene may have interfered with some of our plans but it certainly didn't ruin our good time!

    We made the best of the situation

    We went out to eat

    Hung out by the pool
    {yes the kiddie pool!}

    We lived it up at the Bo Sox game

    we drank several renditions of hurricanes
    we hung out at the local bars

    we prepared for the nasty weather by watching LOTS of the weather channel and looking at the radar

    as well as stocking up on water and other essentials

    and just hung out and relaxed on Sunday, waiting for Irene to arrive.

    Luckily for us the weather was much further west of us
    but I'm fully aware of the damage that was done to the East coast and inland.
    I hope you and your families were not affected by this nasty storm, and if you were, I hope that things get back to normal soon for you and your family!

    Although the weekend didn't go as we originally hoped it to, we still had a blast!
    Sometimes its not all in the planning but who you are with, and I can truly say we had a blast regardless of Irene!
