The meaning behind the song....

Do you ever find yourself singing the words to a song... but not really listening to the meaning? or vice versa?

Brice Lee has a new song out called Love Like Crazy... and although I'm not a big fan of the actual song I love the meaning behind the chorus... I think it says so much in so few words...

Just ask him how he did it; he'll say pull up a seat
It'll only take a minute, to tell you everything
Be a best friend, tell the truth, and overuse I Love You
Go to work, do your best, don't outsmart your commonsense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

If we all just lived our lives like this I think the world would be a MUCH better place! Do you have any songs that you love the lyrics to more than the song? What are they?

Top 2 Tuesdays - Favorite Purchases

This weeks Top 2 Tuesdays topic is:
Top 2 Purchases Made this Year

1. Fossil Stella White Glitz Watch
you can find this watch here

As you all know I am slightly obsessed with the movie the blindside, and I knew that I had to HAVE a white watch afterward... but I debated for about a month, and then I realized that I wanted to treat myself for completing the 1/2 marathon - so I went out and got it.

Every time I look at my watch I think of 2 things - one that I want to be able to give back like the Tuohy's did in the story behind the Blindside and the second is the accomplishment of completing the marathon.

2. Cotton-Popplin Roll Hem Pants
from New York and Company

you can find them here

I saw these on the display table when I was shopping with Aly a few weekends ago, but I took them back to the dressing room with me and I fell in love with them! They may or may not have an elastic waist band [no they aren't maternity pants- but yes i did go down a size in them.. so i'll take it however I can] so I bought a grey pair - and I'm just regretting not buying more colors while I was there.

What are your favorite purchases from this past year??

Head on over to Taylor's blog and link up or see what other bloggers have to say.

The song comes to life......

Know the song Red Neck Yacht Club (if not click here) well we were the epitome of it today out on the water... 14 boats later, a LOT of sun and a few beverages... we had a wonderful 4th of July!

So after 8 hours in the sun, an amazing cookout at my parents, we were home being bums tonight... i'm catching up on all of my dvr'd bethenny's getting married (OMG she is freaking hilarious! i literally have laughed out loud more frequently at this show than any more than i know! how have I missed out on her humor for 3 seasons of RHONY!) and justin is playing video games (i know you should probably be beyond jealous!)
I'm just looking forward to one more day off of work...i'm pretty sure that I will be poolside all day again!
I could really get used to this!

Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July!

We have been busy celebrating America's Independence the past few nights by attending local fireworks.

Friday night we went to downtown Columbus and watched Red, White and Boom. We pack a picnic dinner, people watch (even played people watching Bingo), and then watched the fireworks

Ever since we were little, we packed my Radio Flyer wagon to carry all of our stuff down to the fireworks.. and we still use my Radio Flyer to carry our stuff down to the fireworks - however in the few short 27 years... we have outgrown the trust worth wagon... so now we look like nothing more than the beverly hillbillies rolling down the street with our wagon (that happens to include 2 coolers, a radio to listen to the soundtrack for the fireworks, and two bag chairs) all tied down with a boating line and 2 bungee cords!

Here's my dad pulling ol' trustee and Justin helping him get under construction fencing - I had to laugh!
JM and I waiting for the fireworks
and this years fireworks did not disappoint!

Last night we went to my hometown's fireworks, which are nice, but nothing compared to red, white and boom... a MUCH smaller scale. We went up with Justin's mom, watched them from a parking lot and headed home
(i do however love that the sky is red white and blue in this picture!)

We have been beyond fortunate with perfect weather -80 degrees during the day, getting down to the low 60's at night and no humidity! We're off on the boat for the rest of the day!

I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful 4th of July!!!

4th of July Weekend Plans... and a Sweet Treat :)

Happy Friday!

I can't believe its already the weekend of July 4th!
I absolutely LOVE this holiday, its a time to realize how fortunate we are to be American's, to be thankful for our freedom, and a time to reflect upon all of those who are currently serving and who have served so that we can be free.

I can't wait to celebrate... with family, friends, and lots of firework displays!

in honor of this wonderful holiday, i thought that i would make a cute little "snack" for some of my co-workers today... white chocolate covered strawberries with a little blue :)
Ingredients:

Strawberries
White Chocolate
Crisco or EVOO [in case you don't watch Rachel Ray - thats Extra Virgin Olive Oil]
Blue Sugar Crystals [i found mine at Homegoods, but I'm sure any baking store or Craft store would have them]

Clean your strawberries and let them dry [very important step!]
Melt your white chocolate on the double boiler.. add a little crisco [or EVOO] to prevent the chocolate from "sweating"
Dunk your strawberry into the white chocolate and immediately dunk it into the blue sugar
Voila you have a cute little snack for this holiday!

I will be back to post much more about this exciting weekend! We are going to the BIG fireworks display tonight with my parents - Red, White and Boom, Saturday we are going to my hometowns fireworks, Sunday we are going boating, and Monday grilling out with friends. I am so excited to have a relaxing weekend!

What are your holiday plans?

I hope you and your family have a safe and fun weekend!

A Moment of Blogging Silence

Today I am participating in a blogging silence in honor of Cohen... a little boy who touched our hearts so much in 11 days that he was here with us -however his presence will be felt for a life time.

Please take a moment today to say a prayer for Megan and Brent Marshall as they have their memorial service for their son.
