I'm a HUGE fan of the Holiday's so I was so excited to participate with Aly and Molly for their blog hop!
I promise to make a better effort of participating with all 14 days unlike the last 30 day blog challenge that I "attempted" - ha!
Day 1: Christmas/Holiday Traditions
I promise to make a better effort of participating with all 14 days unlike the last 30 day blog challenge that I "attempted" - ha!
Day 1: Christmas/Holiday Traditions
- My first tradition is that I turn on holiday music starting November 1st every year in my car. I absolutely love Christmas music and it makes me happy:)
- One of the longest running traditions with my family is that we go and cut down our family Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. We all load up into a big work van and drive an hour away to cut down the perfect tree for the family. Its something I look forward to every yeear
- Every Christmas Eve we spend time at my Grandma's house [my dad's mom's]. When we were younger we would have a visit from Santa Claus and with Santa we would sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. After Santa left, we would go to church as the entire family.
- For the past few Christmas's we have spent Christmas morning in the airport flying out west to go snowboarding - but prior to traveling, we would wake up every Christmas morning and have our casserole and pecan loaf. To this day, if i smell the breakfast casserole cooking it smells like Christmas morning
One idea I got from a blog last year is to open up your Christmas cards that you receive in the mail that day at the dinner table, and say a short prayer for every family that sent you a card. I think its important to keep the real meaning of Christmas in mind at all times!
I can't wait to make more traditions with my family.
I can't wait to make more traditions with my family.

I looooove the idea of opening your cards at the dinner table! Thanks for passing that along! I may attempt to do that this year!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along! I will be sending you reminders to blog! Haha!
All I want for Christmas is Youuuuu!
I LOOOOVEEE the idea of opening your cards together as a family and saying a prayer for each one, SO great. Totally stealing that idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the challenge girl!
xoxo
I too love the idea of opening your Christmas cards at the dinner table and praying for the families! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteOpening the cards at the table is a GREAT idea!
ReplyDeleteWow Lindsey what a cool tradition. Your tradition of cutting down your own tree makes me so jealous. Chad insists that we get a fake tree and I always grew up with real ones! Cant wait to see what else you post for the 12 days challenge!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Christmas Card idea, so cute!

I, too, failed miserably at the 30day blog challenge ha!
ReplyDeleteI love foods that make you think of Christmas! Yumm I may have to try your casserole, it sounds delish
I looove the Christmas card idea! I found your blog from the 12 Days Challenge & am now following, as a fellow Ohioan. :)
ReplyDeleteOH I love the Christmas card idea. HOW CUTE! I may have to start that with my family :)
ReplyDeleteYour traditions are soo sweet!! I love that you all cut down your own tree for the holidays, soo cool! And having Santa sing "Happy Birthday to Jesus" is too cute :-) Love the idea about praying/thinking of those who have sent cards. Too cool! Of course I have the patience of a child, so there is not way I'd be able to wait to open our cards ;-)
ReplyDeleteOpening the cards at the dinner table is an awesome idea! You have a cute blog...I am now following.
ReplyDeleteI really hope one day I get to take part in cutting my own Christmas tree. It sounds like such a fun tradition and so Christmasy lol!
ReplyDeleteI really love the Christmas Card at the table idea! That is nice! I don't know if i could ever do that, though... i rip them open and hang them up asap, you know - always in a hurry, that's me! lol... really, it's just anxiety. I get excited over snail mail :)
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying 93.3, have you? I listen to it all day at work, and if i don't tune in at the office, i'll listen to it on the iheartradio app while i cook dinner. Christmas... Columbus... radio, which reminds me - I will be shopping/staying at Easton Monday, Dec.6th thru 7th :D
